Welcome to the W.D. Hancock - Guitarmaker Website. I build handcrafted acoustic steel-string guitars in Paoli, Orange County, Indiana. This web site is intended for anyone who is building, intending to build, or is just interested in how an acoustic steel-string guitar is built.
I use many different tonewoods - some domestic, some imported, including: Bubinga, Black Walnut, East Indian Rosewood (Palisander), Lacewood, Englemann Spruce, Honduras and African Mahoganies, Curly and Quilted Maple, Sitka Spruce, etc. I use the finest materials for inlay, too, including: Abalone, Bone, Mother of Pearl, Mammoth Fossil, Tagua Nut, etc.
I have had my hands working the pleasures of wood, in many different aspects, for over 25 years. Above all, I enjoy building acoustic guitars. I built my first guitar at the age of 16. There is nothing greater than finishing up a guitar you built with your own hands!
Thank you for dropping by and enjoy your visit.
